On Friday your homework was to do the practice activities for verbs. Leave a comment about what activities you did, and how this went. What kind of verbs were easy for you? When I went to grammar-monster, I took the normal verb quiz (the one that we did in class), the intransitive verb quiz, the future tense quiz, the object of the verb quiz, the direct object of the verb, the passive sentence quiz, the active sentences quiz, the auxiliary verbs quiz, and the past-progressive tense, the simple future tense quiz, the future progressive tense quiz, and the simple past tense quiz. I had most difficulty with the tenses, especially the past progressive verbs and the future progressive verb. On a scale of one to ten, I would give it a four because the website is informational, but the tests aren't any better than the worksheets we get in class. The tests are very limited with about 3-5 questions (at least they could have had around 10 examples to explain the concept). The explanation for the type of verb isn't too kid interactive because it has definitions and sentences highlighted showing what the verb or whatever is in the sentence. In the end, the website may be good for showing examples, but to start from scratch and understand a complete concept without a doubt, this website isn't for you.

ReplyDeleteI attended grammar monster today, and I did tests on predicates, verbs, subjects, adverbs, adjectives, compound verbs, intransitive verbs, and transitive verbs. These tests went very well. for predicates i got 4/4. verbs 3/3, subjects 3/3, adverbs 3/3, adjectives 4/5, compound verbs 5/5, intransitive verbs 4/5, and for transitive verbs 9/10. I think personally that I need more work on transitive verbs. These practice activities helped a lot. I finally figured out how to find predicates. I have had the most trouble with those. I then ended up getting 100% on that test which made my frown upside-down :D. This was helpful because the explanation on that subject was very clear and understandable. I really think this is a great website to review for real life tests or quizzes. This website could also really help for note taking for grammar tests. I hope that we get to use his website again as blog homework. This was a great idea Khala Kim :D. I really hope that what I just studied will help me on our grammar test tomorrow :D.

ReplyDeleteWhen I went on www.Grammar-Monster.com I tried several testS and read lots of information. The tests were not very hard for me, being that I have been studying verbs for awhile, but intransitive verbs and finding the direct and indirect object of a verb was somewhat difficult. I do think that the tests were useful because you get to practice what you have learned but there aren't tests about all the information they offer. The tests are also not very long or challenged. They are also on the easy basic topics and tests on harder topics that you would want to test yourself on are not available. I would say my experience with this website was not good nor bad.

I enjoyed The Grammar Monster a lot because I like using more than one source to help me review and study and this will definitely be one of them.I tried all the verb tenses on grammar monster.I like that there is a website like grammar monster for people like me who like websites and such to review Although,I was disappointed that they only gave you three questions on the online test that they have.I was also disappointed that they didn't have any games for Grammar Monster because I usually like learning through games.Other than that, I think that Grammar Monster.

When Khala Kim told us in class about a very fun website called Grammar Monster, I thought she probably confused the website address with another because how can grammar be FUN??? After it was assigned a blog/HW, I thought I might as well give it a try. I started and in a few minutes, I learned so much! I administered the educative tests/quizzes and found that they were informative, but a notch too easy. Intransitive verbs, were an area to look out for, according to me because I found the concept challenging. It was an adventurous site that even took me to taking tests on punctuation, such as colons, parentheses, and many more. I would have been satisfied if more questions were posed, so that I would know for certain that I have mastered the skill/concept. Also there isn't a variety of Q's, nor is there an array of types of verbs. Overall, Grammar-Monster is a instructive and worthwhile site, but could be more challenging too.

I took many tests on Grammar-Monster.com. Some of the tests I took were the parts of speech, what is a verb, what are interjections, the adjective quiz, what are prepositional phrases, and using capital letters with pronouns. I found them all very easy. My only critique would be that they only give you three questions which don’t help you challenge yourself, you also don’t get to see if you are progressing or not because of the number of questions they offer you to take. I found the verbs very easy but the parts of speech a bit hard because I got confused with prepositions. I went and did their tests and felt a little more comfortable than before. I enjoyed using the website but found the questions too easy when they should be a touch more challenging. I would have also enjoyed the website more if it had a different format. When I say that I mean the test is separate from the explanation. I liked that they had the explanation but I found it a little confusing the first time I visited the website. Other than that I found it an excellent teaching tool and a great way to practice a little grammar before a test or just to brush up on old concepts.

I found grammar monster very user friendly and easy to navigate through .I read many texts I took many tests such as the verb text and how to identify adjectives. I took multiple tests in which I got pretty good results. In the verb test I took eight tests and I got one mistake because I got confused between a verb and an adjective because it had a suffix at the end that confused me. In the adjective test I took the hard test and I got 2 mistakes as I didn’t look carefully at the sentences to identify the two. One text that I found rather difficult compared to the rest is hyphens and commas in the middle of a sentence. My only critique would be that they gave a lot of information but not a lot of examples in my opinion, but it was still understandable and clear. I also didn’t find a variety of questions they all had the same format so after a while of using the site it got rather boring for me. But overall it was a good site which I will go back to for more information and practice on grammar concepts I have yet to understand.

ReplyDeleteThe website was very helpful. It was helpful because it had many examples to show you what they were and also that it has many things that you could learn from. I got 4/4 on the verb quiz. I got 4/5 on the intransitive verb quiz. I got 9/10 on the transitive verb quiz. I think that I need to review transitive and intransitive verbs again. It helped me a lot. The tests I took were easy. The tests were also very short so they did not take that long but it wouldn't hurt if the tests were longer. I think that the tests were good because you practice what you have learned. Overall the website was okay.
ReplyDeleteI really like this website because it gives me a chance to master grammar skills which I am having trouble with. I like how it kind of "reteaches" the lesson and gives a good practice test which immediately checks the answers. I agree with Helen that learning from games is more helpful because its fun and educational but grammar monster is a good to learn from.
ReplyDeleteI went to the website grammar monster and worked on verbs. I took the test for finding the verbs in the paragraph and got 4/4 on it. After that, I took the tests for instransitive verbs,transitive verbs, past tensed verbs, present tensed verbs and future tensed verbs and got no more that 3 mistakes. I think the website is kind of boring but it did help me with verbs an it was easy to use. It is useful because it shows you the description of a grammar word and it lets you take tets to see how awesome you are at grammar.

ReplyDeleteI found grammar monster very user friendly. I took the verb, transitive verb, and intransitive verb tests. I passed all of them with full score. But I would perfer it, if they has more questions and diffrent levels. I enjoyed taking the tests and reading the descriptions. I liked how this could help students who are having a hard time with these important parts of speech. Overall it is a good site to use before a test and to just review.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed grammar-monster, but I also don’t like some things about it. What I liked about it was how it explains what a verb, or a noun, or whatever you clicked on. It even gives examples and if you clicked on pronouns, it gives you a list of pronouns, the definition, a sentence with a pronoun, and a test/quiz to go with it. What I didn't like about Grammar-monster.com, was that the quizzes were too short and too easy. I think that the quizzes should have been longer (like more questions). I also didn't like how the questions were kind of too easy. I think it should be like every time you get a question right, the questions should get harder, and every time you get the question wrong, it either stays at the same level, or it gets a little easy.
ReplyDeleteI took about 9 quizzes/tests. The tests that I took were about adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, nouns, verbs, pronouns, past tense words, present tense words, and future tense words. I also took the quizzes about interjections and prepositions. I had some trouble with those because I haven’t really reviewed them in a while. Other than that, I think that Grammar-monster is a good review for my grammar skills.
When it says I took about 9 quizzes/tests, I meant for it to be about 11 quizzes/tests.

The thing I thought was the hardest were the transitive and intransitive verbs. Also if you do the same test over again so u get mor practice the questions are repeated. So after you take a test at this website, to get more practice you would also have to go to other websites. Overall I think the website is great for practice for quizzes and tests. It is good place to find examples, but I think it would be too hard to lean the concept. This website is good for learning, but I think if you could only grammar from the website it would be too hard. The website wasn't different or anything new. I personally thought that this website would make it a little fun so it is addictive so it is easier to learn, but it wasn't. In the end, I wasn't impressed by the website grammar monster.

I think grammar monster is a good source for information and it is understood well but it has disadvantages as well like it doesn't have any games and it has a limited amount of tests so when I finished all of them they just started coming again round and round but if you have gotten it wrong before then that could be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteToday I went to grammar monster and took the verbs, adverbs, subjects, and intransitive verbs test. This is very good site for people who are having trouble at grammar. According to me, I think it was very good and helped solve my grammar blocks. I think my intransitive verbs need more work but everything else went well. Its very helpful besides the fact that you're staring at a screen and your mind is working. it causes a headache.

As I took many tests and quizzes on Grammar-Monster.com, I found them to be very helpful for understanding different grammar concepts such as verb phrases, subjects, predicates, and the types of verbs. Overall, I did an exceptional job and achieved good grades. I didn’t have any difficulty or struggle while preforming the grammar activities. The website in technological terms worked smoothly while I was visiting the page and I will continue to practice grammar using this site.

When I went on Grammar Monster I took the test/activities for the noun and the verb. I was able to get 100% on each of my test, thanks to the additional notes they let you use when you take the test. I found it very useful because this is something we do in class. Overall I think Grammar Monster is a useful website that allows for students (including me) to get more practice in the things they are having trouble in as well as what they want to review. Also since this is online, making it easy to access.
