  2. This is my review on 3 Skeleton Key. I hope it meets your expectations Khala Kim!!!!!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
The story, 3 Skeleton Key was one with great suspense and full of dramatic events. I adored the story because of its irregular plot. The plot, compared to the plot of other horror stories, was not against nature, nor a human being, but against an animal. Not many stories of this kind have an animal, such as rats, as their antagonist. This makes the expert distinctive and unique.

Another reason I enjoyed this selection was because of how the narrator in the story used figure of speech to create a picture in our minds about what he is narrating. For example, page 35 of the textbook, paragraph 5 of the page is dedicated in describing the lighthouse where he and his colleagues work, with such a variety of vocabulary that you can feel that you are there, cramped in that tiny, old lighthouse, in the midst of an island, which is very compact. This takes the reader on a journey, and in this case, on a journey to the Lights…!

  3. The Three Skeleton Key over all is a very intriguing story. It starts off talking about the narrator's most terrifying experience, an indication it will be a horror story. This story however does not put horror in its most common form, fiction, it puts horror in a realistic setting. Three Skeleton Key also carries a lot of suspense making you wonder what would happen next such as the part when the rats were coming inside the lighthouse where the narrator and his companions were at that moment. Right at then I began to wonder whether they would make it out of there alive or not.
Also the audio by Vincent Price was amazing because of the fact that Price had that "scary" voice which made you feel you where there. Another great/important factor was that the sound effects would come in at the most suspenseful part which really completed the mood of the horror story.

  4. I dont like 3 skeleton key because it is not a scary story and it is boring. Rats attacking a light house! That is a very weird thing for a horror story. 3 skeleton key is about three people on a island who live in a light house and they get sent supplies from a supply ship. Then they see a Dutch boat that is raided by a special kind of sea rats who are very vicious. The three people hid in the light house while the rats tried to break in and eat them. One day, the other people saw a light house covered with rats and there was a battle between rats and humans. The three men went to a hospital and 2 of them survived. I just find it uninteresting. It needs more action and adventure.

  6. My Review On 3 Skeleton Key:
I like 3 skeleton key it has a lot of suspense. I also like it because it has the theme of horror into the story. I think this story is awesome because it has to do with 3 people that live in a lighthouse and they need to send supplies by sea. But then it has a twist to it which is that they find rats on the ships that eat humans as well as each other. What i think is the most frightening part in the story that these colossal rats eat humans as well as multiply very quickly which is even worse because the rat population will become even bigger than the human population. They are cannibals so this would be even more frightening because they would keep eating humans. I know this because the story said " The rats smell human flesh nearby". This makes it obvious that the rats want to eat these 3 people as their entree. But luckily, only 2 humans survived.

  7. I like 3 skeleton key because it is a scary story and it has a lot of suspense. Three skeleton key is about 3 people in a lighthouse protecting themselves from rats. I liked that the rats ate the humans on the boat. I also liked that the 3 men had to lock themselves in the light house. I also thought that the story was funny because the people had to protect themselves from rats. The rats are big and vicious but I still think that it is funny that humans are hiding from rats. In the audio Vincent Price uses descriptive language so that it will make you feel like your there. He also uses a scary voice so it would make the story sound more scary. Overall i like the story but some parts were boring to me.

  8. I think the story was ok because it had a spooky feeling, but didn’t build any suspense as other books do. It did give some information about why ships might be abandoned or why ships need to have a light house for safety. I also learned that rats are cannibals. It also teaches me how skilled rats can be and also how strong or smart they are. It also teaches me how they can live for such a long time living in circumstances. The story also had many descriptive words and many figures of speech. The story was somewhat interesting, but also had many down sides like having more action and adventure and many more settings than the lighthouse. Even though, it was somewhat interesting a few were pretty good like when only two of the 3 men survived the rat attack.

  9. I like Three Skeleton Key because it was suspenseful and enjoyable. It had this type of atmosphere that kept you guessing what was going to happen next. Vincent Price used such narrative context you can literally picture the whole story as he reads. The sound effects helped set a eerie and scaring mood also. After the rats managed to get inside the lighthouse I was sure they weren't going to make it but then there was a plot twist. Plot twists pull the attention of the reader and makes them even more interested. Overall I was really intrigued with the story and how it was read

  10. Skeleton key was a very intriguing book with lots of suspense (in the audio at least). It taught me that rats could take over ships and how deadly they are. Of course they’re not your ordinary garage rats. They were huge rodents that carried plagues like rabies. Vincent Price narrated the story so well, it was as if I was one of the sailors (the credit type of goes to the author too). It made me laugh when Leo went crazy and kept on saying that the name would change to six skeleton key. It also surprising when the sailor who was the narrator extended his period at the lighthouse and was almost in tears when he had to leave. Three skeleton key was a thriller but I still would have liked it if it was six skeleton key. :]

    1. oh ya there's a typo for the the sentence 'It also surprising when the sailor who was the narrator extended his period at the lighthouse and was almost in tears when he had to leave.' It is supposed to be 'It's also suprising'

  11. I found this story very memorable and well written thanks to the amazing work of the author George G. Toudouze. Although it was a well written story I did find the section of the story when the men were on their ship and saw a distant ship in the distance confusing. I wasn’t able to comprehend whether they were on their ship or in the actual lighthouse. Whether this was present only in the excerpt or in the full horror story I couldn’t tell. Other than that it was a very spine-chilling and eerie story. The most memorable part of the story was when the crew saw the phantom ship in the distance and suspected it was the much known and heard about Flying Dutchman, they could tell because of its lines and the way it effortlessly cuts through the wind like a knife running through water. Once they confirm it is not this well-known ship they suspect it has no crew which is extremely unusual due to the men’s previous knowledge that no ship is to seek into the sea alone or without a crew. Once the ship nears the harbor they find that the crew is a swarm of Holland rats, which are the fiercest and bravest of them all. I find this part very intriguing because of the amount of detail the author puts into it. If you were to look in the excerpt he dedicated about two and a half pages to this section of the story which indicates to me that it is an essential part of the story. I find this an utterly perfect and suspenseful story that I would recommend to any young reader waiting for an unexpected twist to a very well written and delightful story.

  12. I enjoyed reading Three Skeleton Key by George G. Toudouze because I enjoy reading scary and suspenseful stories as this book did not completely satisfy my taste of scariness but it was OK, but still a good read. I do enjoy reading about sailors and ships etc. so i was excited when you said it will be our next lesson ,and one point in particular that caught me is when Lea Gleo said "what do you mean, chief ? Are you saying that she’s the Flying Dutchmen? This part stuck out for me and intrigued me. I also learned that rats are not only dirty animals but are very smart creatures and can be pretty persistent when they want something .I also like the fact that it is based on an old legend that 3 skeletons were once found on the island resting and the cause of their death was because a swarm of rats ate them alive! Overall it was a pretty good read but in my opinion could have been a little better, but then again this is only an excerpt of the entire story so I will never know that until I read the story myself.

  13. I liked Three Skeleton Key because it had many suspense in it and foreshadowing. What I like about foreshadowing is how I have to try guessing what will happen next with what I already know from the story or book so far. One of the main ideas in Three Skeleton Key was that there were three people in the light house trying to send supplies from over the sea. Then they were trying to protect them selves from rats. I also figured out that in the story, they were talking about the really big and fat rats that can eat almost anything when they are really hungry. What I also really like about the audio was that Vincent Price used such descriptive words, which made the story really nice to listen to and to read along with. He also used a scary tone of voice which made me and maybe even other people imagine/picture every thing in their heads. Even sometimes it made me fell like I was actually there. I really liked this story and I think it is a really nice horror story.

  14. Three Skeleton Key by George G. Toudouze depicts the struggle of a group of men against an attack of vicious sea rats in a lighthouse. I particularly enjoyed how Toudouze keeps his readers on their toes. As I was reading I shared the same sense of panic the men were feeling as they noticed an unusual vessel approaching the lighthouse. Three Skeleton Key appealed to my taste for horror stories which is why I was delighted when the author included a few frightening moments. The author’s careful attention to detail as he described the fright and hallucinations of the men, as they remained imprisoned in the house made the unlikely attack of evil rats uncomfortably real.

  17. I really liked 3 Skeleton Key because the story is based on my worst phobia ever....rats! The story really put my phobia to the test because the story absorbed me and I felt like as if I was the one dealing with not one small mouse, but a huge army of gigantic rats! To me the most suspenseful part was when the men find out whose riding the ship and screamed all together, "The Rats!". Another scary part was when the main character notices that the life boats were still on the boat...which only meant
one thing....the rats ate the crew! That was a stomach flopper for me. I learned that rats are very smart and that they can find a way to slip through problems very easily. Honestly that didn't help me either. Besides the fact that the rats were a big problem, I really like the way the men survived and how the rescuers took the situation tactically. I was very dumbstruck at the way they saved the men. Also for once in my life I was pretty happy that sharks actually served a purpose in life. The ending was kinda cheesy but good. However this story was so detailed that when Khala Kim said the audio was more detailed...I was dumbstruck! I usually don't get interested in classics but this one really reached the sky! This story really absorbed me!

I thought the story was a little too descriptive.other than that i liked the story. The part that i liked the most was the suffering the three men went through to stay alive from a storm of rats that blocked most of their ways to get fresh air.In my opinion I liked the story in the text book better because I think the most descriptive part in a scary story should be the major climax. In the text book they didn't describe everything like the house they lived in and many other things. That was my opinion and what I liked about the story thanks for reading

Three skeleton key is a story about terror it builds up lot of suspense and is interesting.

three skeleton key is about three people going to work at the lighthouse and then they discover that rats were coming towards them and were planning on eating them, they tried their best to escape that in the end they got trapped where the light is so they decided not to open the light so that they leave a sign that something went wrong, in the end two of them died while the last one who is also the narrator survived

  23. I usually don't like stories like Three Skeleton Key, but I enjoyed this story. It was full of suspense and kept you turning the pages. I think Vincent Price's voice added so much more suspense and detail to the story. Three Skeleton Key was a story about a man and his colleagues who worked in a lighthouse. One day they saw a ship sailing without any crew. When the ship docked at the lighthouse, problems afflicted them. The ship was full of dangerous rats. Well long story short one man died, one went crazy, and the other returned to the lights.
